Guernica is one of the most symbolic images of the contemporary world. It is the image of worldwide anti-war sentiment and of the fight for freedom. Guernica, probably Picasso’s most famous work, is certainly his most powerful political statement. Romani (Gypsies) originating in the Punjab region of northern India as a nomadic people, entered Europe between the eighth and tenth centuries. They were called "Gypsies" because Europeans mistakenly believed they came from Egypt. This minority is made up of distinct groups called "tribes" or "nations." Common beliefs : In many communities, the common belief is that Gypsies are people who don’t have a permanent house & go from one place to another without any real goals or purposes. They are believed to be vagabond people living in horse drawn colourful Caravans, telling fortune with Tarot cards, tinkering with Violins, panning for gold in the river, people engaging themselves in fist fights, drugs, alcohol, free lifestyle & free culture. They were usually considered as untrustworthy group always indulging themselves in petty thefts. Hiroo Onoda: The uncompromising Patriot of Japan

“ It may take three years, it may take five, but whatever happens we’ll come back for you”, this were the words that he had believed & for his belief the commander had to return to take him home. This is the story of Hiroo Onoda, the Imperial Japanese Army officer who fought in World War II & was a Japanese holdout who did not surrender at the war’s end in August 1945, he remained at his jungle post on an island in the Philippines for 29years, refusing to believe that World War II was over, until his former commander traveled from Japan to formally relieve him from duty by order of Emperor in 1974. Hiroo Onoda, before & after holdout Onoda was born on March 19, 1922 in Wakayama prefecture, central Japan. At 17 he went to work for a trading company in Wuhan, China, which Japanese forces had occupied in 1938. In 1942 he joined the Japanese army, was signed out for special training, and attended Nanako School, the army’s training center for intelligence officers.

Mahisasuramardini is a widely popular programme aired every year at day-break on Mahalaya.It is the non-detachable part of Bengali culture.There are many interesting ups and downs realted to this programme. In 1922, Indian States and Eastern Agency Limited proposed the British Government to start radio broadcast in India.
