History of being Largest democratic country

2021 marked India's 72nd year of becoming sovereign democratic republic. After the decades of fight and sacrifices, Indian constitution came into being freeing India from the shackles of British rule. The time was 1929. Indian National Congress declared 'Purna Swaraj' or the Self Rule. The date was set for 26th January,1930. Jawaharlal Nehru (later became 1st Prime Minister of India) hoisted the tricolour on the bank of river Ravi in Lahore on that day. Time went by. Finally after 17 years of its first celebration, India got independence on 15th August,1947. Jawaharlal Nehru sworn in as the 1st Prime Minister of India, Lord Mountbatten continued as the Governor General of India. But on that time, India did not have a constitution. Indian Independence Act gave India freedom, but when it would have its own constitution. So, after 15th August, 1947 India was a British dominion, a part of British Commonwealth. India was ruled according to the provisions of Government of India Act, 1935. India adopted its constitution on 26th November, 1949. To commemorate the celebration of first independence day, Indian constitution came into being on 26th January, 1950. India became a sovereign democratic republic, establishing a choosen government. Indian constitution gave its citizens the power to govern themselves, and to chose their representatives. Dr. Rajendra Prasad took oath as the first President of independent India. Republic day reflects the true spirit of India. Festivities and patriotic fervor glitters in military parades, displays of military equipments. The enthusiasm seen in the people no lesser than it was seen on the first celebration. Every community comes together leaving all differences and cultural ethos. Because when it comes to the nation, they are all one.
