75 Years of Freedom

"Long years ago, we made a tryst with destiny; and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom."

-- Jawaharlal Nehru on 14-15 August, 1947 at Constituent Assembly

This year India is celebrating 75th Independence day. 74 years ago on this day, the provisions of Indian Independence Act of 1947 came into effect and divided the country into Dominions of India and Pakistan freeing it from the hands of the British. On this day we not only celebrate our independence but also pay tribute to the valiant freedom fighters who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of country. Being a citizen of a sovereign nation, where the power of sovereignty lies to the people of the country, it is our duty to serve the country for good. Despite having different cultures, languages and ethnicity, it is Unity that binds us together and leads us to prosperity. Keeping in mind the sacrifice of our ancestors, we should take oath to achieve the goals of fraternity, justice, liberty, unity and equality to develop it into a nation that takes the premiere seat in the world overcoming all challenges.

JAI HIND!
